Online Rage: Red Velvet Crinkles, Revel Bars and Rodillas Cakes

Almost all the people I follow on Instagram have online shops, photos with tons of hashtags like #ootd #kicks #foodgasm #gluta #lookingforPH #onlineseller. Everything is sold online, even lubes, oh my gosh. Name it all you can! But what I like most about online selling is the baked goodies (who doesn't love food?). I love it how sellers can recreate cakes, cookies and think of new ideas to sell. Last 2014 a lot of people sold red velvet cakes online, even some of my acquaintances did some home made goodies. Since I don't like sweets and bandwagons, I never tried one, until yesterday when my sister bought one out of curiosity.

The red velvet crinkles (P80 per box) is something that your teeth would hate (for me, yes). It's super sweet and chunky, tastes like regular crinkles. What I love about it is the filling in between which I think was cream cheese. It takes the crinkles to the next level. It also complemented the sweetness of the rvc and added a soft creamy texture between the chunkiness. Though I admitted I have to drink a lot of water since it's too sweet.

Another goody my sister purchased was the revel bars (P72 per box). I don't really like sweets but this one is a game changer. I love that it has mixed oats in it which balances the sweetness and gives texture to the bars. It's both soft and chunky and just sweet in the right amount.

Last, but not the least is the famous Rodillas Yema Cake from Tayabas, Quezon City. My sister sells this online together with leche puto and sort of other stuff. You can check it out here. I accompanied her one time in Quezon before to buy stocks and I found out how difficult it is to get reservations from Rodillas Bakeshop. They are very strict when it comes to their policies and you can never bribe their staff no matter how many it is that you would like to buy.

Their cakes originally come in two flavors, the yema and caramel cake. The yema cake tastes cheesy and creamy and the caramel one tastes more like mocha. It's odd but it really is. What I love about their cakes is that it's affordable, you can buy it's half (8x6in) for P180-220 and whole cake (8x12in) for P350-380, depending on the reseller and your locations. Rodilla's Bakeshop doesn't have any branches outside Quezon so those sellers saying they have a franchise or branch are not true and they are all resellers (hair flip).

Recently, the bakeshop released their very own Ube Cake and I am so lucky I got to try the first batches. It was so good that I did some stress-eating after my shift. It tasted both like the original yema cake with some ube on it. And just like the other flavors, this ube cake is definitely not "nakakasawa" or "nakakaumay"!

OVERALL Rating:
  • Red Velvet Crinkles 7/10
  • Revel Bars 8/10
  • Yema Cake 10/10
  • Caramel Cake 10/10
  • Ube Cake 9/10
Let me know if you have bought goodies online and what would be your favorite!
